Hello Hughes Peoples!
“LIVE” Hughes Blog / List Serve Issues
I understand that there were some glitches with the list serve last week and students not receiving the notice. I ensured that all students that wrote me saying they hadn’t received the email were signed up for the list serve.
The blog is always on the Hughes website. I think we have the glitches fixed, but to be clear about the 411 and the list serve, scholars can expect an email weekly saying that the information has been updated for the week. When in doubt, please check the web page for the blog update.
Personal Statement Assignment
Laurel gave scholars an extension- but by TODAY, June 25th, Scholars should submit a draft of a personal statement that would be used in an admissions application for Graduate or Medical School. You can refer to this useful web link from Columbia University for information on formatting.
http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/fellowships/gettingStarted/personalStatement.php
Laurel and possibly a Director of Graduate Studies will review the statements at Cornell and provide constructive feedback.
Students receiving a stipend check, check#2 will be available this Friday for your statement. ALL scholars are expected to submit a statement by email to me (pd43).
